April is really when I should start planning Christmas. I usually wait way too long and then it is rush rush rush. This is my first Christmas Related Quilt for the year. I started it before last Christmas but as we all know, we have good intentions but ....
I was inspired by McCalls Quick Quilts Oct/Nov2011 issue.
I loved the retro feel of the quilt on the cover. I had worked about half way through before I noticed a black speck on the back (white) fabric, A STAIN???, where could it have come from??? I had made this to be sold, so I am washing it as I type hoping the speck comes out. BUT if the speck remains my mother graciously offered to take the quilt, so big of her....hee hee.
I think she may have a fight on her hands though, my little 3y/o has fallen in love with it. I am hustling the last six inches of whipped stitching on the binding and he comes up on the chair and pulls the quilt over himself. Ahhh, my quilt. Then he notices that Santa is driving a train, "Choo, woo woo."

| Quilted Freehand Stars |
The fabrics I picked up at Hancocks, I fell in love with Santa driving a train, school bus and fire engine. Very kid friendly. The quilting is a combination of echo quilting and free handing the stars inside the circle. I just LOVE being able to strike one Christmas item off my list.
Okay, back to quilting!
